Hillary's Stance on Iraq Minimize

As most of you know Hillary's position on the Iraq War is to immediately begin withdrawing troops from Iraq.  She basically outlines a three step approach to her position on Iraq and the Iraq War:

  • Phased Redeployment within First 60 Days of Hillary in office
  • Secure Stability in Iraq
  • New Intensive Diplomatic Initiative in the Region

Phased Redeployment within First 60 Days of Hillary in Office

According to Hillary's website, the most important part of her plan is to end our engagement in Iraq and immediately bring our troops home.  She claims she would immediately convene her Joint Chiefs of Staff, her Secretary of Defense and her National Security Council and ask them to draw up a clear and viable plan to begin withdraw of our troops within the first 60 days of her Presidency.

Secure Stability in Iraq

She plans to direct aid to Iraq stating this aid would be both governmental and non-governmental with the intent to get aid to the people of Iraq and not to prop up the Iraqi government.  She states she would appoint a high level U.N. representative to help broker peace between the parties in Iraq.

New Intensive Diplomatic Initiative in the Region

According to her website, in the first days of her Presidency she would convene a regional stabilization group with three primary objectives:  non-interference, mediation and reconstruction funding.  This will be accomplished according to her website as follows:

As our forces redeploy out of Iraq, Hillary would also organize a multi-billion dollar international effort -- funded by a wide range of donor states -- under the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to address the needs of Iraqi refugees. And as we replace military force with diplomacy and global leadership, Hillary will not lose sight of our very real strategic interests in the region. She would devote the resources we need to fight terrorism and will order specialized units to engage in narrow and targeted operations against al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations in the region.

If you look at the above plans Hillary has in Iraq, it may become immediately apparent that she has no concrete plans on how to accomplish any of it.  She has plenty of ideas, but nothing of substance backing them.  For example, how can she promise to start removing troops from Iraq when in her own statement she claims she will have to convene a bunch people to come up with a viable plan.  What if those people don't think there is a viable plan to begin withdrawing troops within 60 days.  Perhaps the viable plan they come up with states a troop withdrawal can't happen for 360 days.  You see, it is difficult to have a position on an issue with no plan for its implementation ahead of time.  It's up to you to decide.  It sounds great to all of us to have troops to begin to leave Iraq, but is it feasible?  That is the question of which Hillary does not have an answer.

HillaryCare Minimize

If you go to Hillary's website, you will find a long extensive list of information and resources on healthcare.  Hillary has had healthcare plans since back during her husband's Presidency.  The reason there is so much information is because she has been trying to get a healthcare plan put in place for two decades.  The reason it isn't in place is because it simple won't work.  It's socialized medicine, and this country has not bought into the concept yet of socialized medicine and hopefully never will.

You can read Hillary's plan and make your own decisions, but here is the outline of her plan as taken from her website:

·         Affordable: Unlike the current health system where insurance premiums send people into bankruptcy, the plan provides tax credits for working families to help them cover their costs. The tax credits will ensure that working families never have to pay more than a limited percentage of their income for health care.

·         Available: No discrimination. The insurance companies can't deny you coverage if you have a pre-existing condition.

·         Reliable: It's portable. If you change or lose your job, you keep your health care.

If you bother to read further down on her website, you actually have to click a link and read a summary of the entire plan, you find out that the plan isn’t only available to all Americans, it’s actually mandatory.  The following statement is made in the summary of the plan:

·         Individuals: will be required to get and keep insurance in a system where insurance is affordable and accessible.

Some may argue that this is a good thing.  I mean, we passed mandatory car insurance to help lower car insurance rates, but do we really want to keep having the government tell us how to protect ourselves in our own affairs.  Personally, I do not.  I want to decide if and when I need health care coverage.  I’m a reasonable person and plan to have healthcare coverage, but that should be my choice not some government mandate placed on me with the assurance that it will supposedly be affordable.  What if it isn’t affordable.  The fact that it is mandatory may make it less affordable.  Hillary has an extensive healthcare plan.  There is no denying this fact.  The problem is it is a plan that socializes medicine in this country.  Is that what you want?
